Help stop trafficking in women & children

“UN estimates show that there ARE 2.5 million victims of human trafficking worldwide at any one time. According to the United States Agency for International development (USAID) Human Trafficking is the second biggest illegal trade after drugs and those involved in the trade earn more than 10 billion dollars a year.

The USAID statement identified Singapore and Malaysia as the top destination countries for trafficking victims from poorer countries.”

The campaign was launched by YBHG Dato R. Gurusamy and Puan Faridah, Deputy Presidents of the National Council of Women’ Organization, Malaysia on the 4^th of February’09 at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (P) Bukit Kuda. 270 students between 16 and 18 participated in a half day workshop which included talks on self-esteem, personal safety, grooming and preparation of CVs. Following the workshop at SMK (P) Bukit Kuda, we screened the award winning Slumdog Millionaire movie on the 13^th of February’09 to help raise fund for similar workshops in the future.
