Hi people, I know this update has been slow in coming but as the saying goes “better late than never”.

Update 1: Baker Babes!

Fiona and Sowmya are on a joint-community care project. They are training residents at  United Voice, which is a self-advocacy society of persons with learning disabilities. They are teaching the residents to bake muffins and cakes.

They are also doing a  10-day “Bake for Charity” programme in conjunction with Mother’s Day.  We are taking orders for chocolate Cup Cakes (RM3 per pc) and 1KG iced moist choc cakes RM50 (with delivery within Klang Valley).  Surprise your mums, aunts, friends whoever this season.

Place your order with Fiona 017 3401701 or  Sowmya @ 017 2583668.   Live sales will be held on 3 May at the Kiwanis Bazaar at Central Market  from 11am-3pm. We’ll see you there.

The Bake For Charity is a fundraiser for the Kiwanis training for the disabled centre, United Voice and our People Trafficking workshops in schools!

Update 2: - Slumdog Millionaire – School Workshop

MMIGLOBAL has embraced the issue of Human (People) Trafficking as our agenda for the year. We’re targeting girls between 15 and 25 (because that is the age group of victims) for conservations on the issue, albeit unofficially! We doing a programme for 200 girls in a secondary school in Klang on Saturday 25 April.

Update 3: News Report – ECONOMIC CRISIS A GIFT TO PEOPLE TRAFFICKERS

This report court our eye. We are sharing a snippet from the report:

“NUSA DUA, INDONESA.APRIL 15 (AFP): People traffickers are licking their lips with glee as the world economic slowdown pushes more people to migrate in search of work, Australia’s foreign minister told Asian Ministers.

Stephen Smith told a gathering of ministers and high-level officials from 60 countries, mostly from the Asia-Pacific region, that the patterns of illegal migration were changing and the region had to keep up.

“The severe downturn in the world economy will push more migrants into the hands of people traffickers as they seek better lives abroad “Smith said at the so-called Bali Process on people smuggling, people trafficking and related transnational crime.”

Update 4 – December 2008 X’mas Party Fundraiser

Vision Home in Perak received Rm3001 courtesy of the fundraiser. We collected just under Rm5k from the party and after cost deductions and passing hat around we managed to make that donation. Thank you all for the support.
